Hello World!

Welcome to the corner of the internet I call Kefáli Kee! I’m Sterling, a Software Quality Assurance Engineer by day and a self-taught barber by night. Barbering and technology are pretty much my two favorite things in the world so what better way than to marry them together with the content of this blog. Enjoy!

How’d It Begin?

As a 90’s baby, I got the opportunity to witness the Internet boom BOOM! So it goes without saying that computers and technology were (and still are) a part of my DNA. On the other hand, I can’t remember the barbershop not being a core memory of mine as a kid. And while using computers was second nature to me, the intricacies of cutting hair provided an allure I was drawn to that I couldn’t escape.

I performed my first cut in 2007. I remember it like it was yesterday; in my best friend’s basement with nothing but an Andis clipper, trimmer, and a couple Speed O Guide clipper guards. Luckily I’d spent enough time watching all the barbers at Theo’z Barbershop and their techniques. About 45 minutes later, I had a sense of fulfillment I’d never experienced and that spark lit the fire that’s still ablaze today.

Fast-forward to 2015, I enrolled in a barber school based in Baltimore to pursue an official barber license. But about a quarter way through the program, the school unexpectedly shut down leaving me at a crossroads. This setback, though disappointing, opened my eyes to alternative paths. Seeking a stable career that could complement my love for barbering, I pivoted into Software Quality Assurance. The attention to detail and precision I’d honed in barbering translated surprisingly well to this tech-focused field. Today, I find myself in a unique position, blending my technical expertise with barbering, creating a synergy I never anticipated but now cherish.
